"My Surrender", by Alan Ayers

W
hen I was younger

there was a time
I was desired by many
but yearned to be loved by one.

How odd that now,
though I'm well loved by one
I yearn to be desired
by many

"Lady's Choice", by Alan Ayers

I've often wondered while he slept
was I his angel as he claim,
or really just his jailer.

My Daughter, my inspiration

Dancing With Fairies

An age of innocence and make believe
Unicorn pictures in crayola green
Autumn days jumping in colorful leaves
Teddy bears in hats join afternoon teas.

Dancing with faeries in open meadows
Riding rainbows and butterfly chases
Laughing in wonderment at her shadow
While she travels to mystical places.

Sweetness not lost by touch of the world
One day these will be a vague memory.
Cherub face with ice cream smiles framed in curls
Marveling at all that this sweet girl sees

God in his greatness has blessed me to be
The one to watch over her as she dreams.

LeeAnn Womack - I hope You Dance

Enchantment

Underneath a rainbow sky
In a field of monet watercolors,
A unicorn prances towards the princess,
Taking silvery sugar cubes from her gentle hand.
On the wind, it rained a glittered magic
And her laughter filled the air with a song so sweet
That it enchanted faeries from their circle.

Underneath a sheet clad set of overturned chairs
A castle where the sweet princess holds her court
Spending time amusing her adoring subjects
And for a moment runs out and gives to me,
Her most adoring fan,
Peanut butter kisses and jelly hand hugs
Before riding off on her one horned steed
Back to the land of make believe.

Wanderlust

Do you really want to know?

So a little bit more about myself, is it that you really want to know?

I'm a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and started blogging about them on CBS Sportsline under the nick "momluvsfootball". They say I have a following there, not sure why.

I've always loved writing. Originally I planned on being a journalist when I was making career decisions, that changed though. But I still carried my love for writing over with me. I've written poetry since I was a young girl, and always seemed to have had a journal with me. Unfortunately, with each move I made in life, the journals would find their way to the trash. Not going to happen anymore. My regrets in the loss of these journals aren't so much losing my poetry, but there were times, like when I sat on the lawn of the Summer Palace in Oslo and wrote about the shrimp trollers, or my fascination for the architecture that I saw when I visited Germany or my feelings sitting in a guarded compound in Saudi Arabia. They captured the moment. Now I can only remember them.

Want to know more...just ask.

Trepidations

Dare I whisper your name in the dark

The very word, an incantation
that summons a demon from the mist
which draws me deep within your fire
Or a muted prayer upon my tongue
answered by an angel with golden wings
to take me up into the heavens
just to torment me with a taste of paradise.

Dare I whisper your name in the dark

Oh sorcerer who cast your spell
which melted chains and tore down walls
to mesmerize me with a glance
I'm captured within your charm
where daylight hours produce an addiction strong
that only your lips will satiate
and knowing all that I am would concede to your touch

Dare I whisper your name in the dark?

Somewhere

Somewhere in time
with a whisper upon the wind,
two hearts collide
as providence waved her fateful hand.

And somewhere in the night
with a wish upon a star,
two souls connected
as if destiny meant for this to be.

Somewhere in a dream,
lovers embraced within a mist
where passions and desires
left them drenched on silken sheets.

And somewhere on a canvas
brushed with strokes of muted blues
emotions captured in timeless pose
for the cruel to scrutinize.

Somewhere there is you
searching for what's left of me…

Fantasy of Strangers

It was a fantasy
a brief encounter
two strangers
whose hands touched
and for an instant
seen into each others
heart, into their souls

For a moment
they shared a lifetime together,
the passions, the fears,
the dreams, the sorrows
a gentle touch
a soft caress
whispers of words unspoken

It was a fantasy
two strangers who will
never know the others name
that shared a smile
and polite apologies
and went their own ways

In Search of my Muse

Oh dear muse,
where did you run to
taking my words with you?
Is it to mythical places
where laughter and sunshine
fills that space,
or did you slip down into
a hole so deep and dark,
where monsters roam
and terror speaks?

Tell Me It's Okay

Tell me it's okay
to drop my guard
as I fall asleep in your arms
that tonight you're at peace
and the demons
aren't chasing you
to that place you go sometimes.

Tell me it's okay
to be vulnerable
if only for a few moments
and that you'll find the strength
that is and has always been there
to chase away my fears

Tell me it's okay
not to be strong
to break down in your arms
to cry with you
and that you won't feel guilty
or sense despair and just
let go.

Tell me it's okay
to love and laugh
with you as we've done
so many times before
without you thinking I'd be better
off with someone else.

No Sorrow

Feel no sorrow for me
because the hell I walk through
is my own choosing
and it's by your side
and your hell that I choose to
walk through with.
and I can do this
because with you
I've walked through Heaven
once and believe
that we will find
heaven again
Together

"Only a Duke Will Do", Alan Ayers

I Just Do

You asked me why I love you
In a moment of my weakness
When the shadows of sleep
had caught me off guard
A sense of sadness ensued
When I whispered, I just do
Perhaps because I could put
No words on something
Tangible you were seeking.

Yet would you understand
The answers if I could give them?
The intangibles that I see
In you?
And could I put into words
Just how my heart and soul feel
When you reach out for my hand
Without thinking
Or when I wake up and see you
Watching me
Or how it's your touch
That I yearn for
I just do

Do you really know
That it's because in your mind
you go on every day
because of me
I just do
That all you want to see
Is me smile
And that the man
you thought you lost
stands right in front of me.

Yet here in the dark,
When your souls at peace
After once again you seek
Your comfort in me
And like a child you sleep
In my arms
Would you hear me
If I whispered,
I just do?

"Never Seduce a Scoundrel", Alan Ayers

For Sake of Promises Once Made

Was it the beginning of the end,
or had the fates set those wheels in motion
years before when the beast reared it's head?
fingering the black and gold band that he discarded
Without a word or reason why,
she, sitting there reflecting on past events
where flaws and faults exposed
are now major points of contention
and conversation, masked in polite frivolity
never brushed past the surface
lest more pain be caused
by toxic words that were whispered
only in the recesses of angry minds.

And what about love?
it was still there, no doubt
but would it be enough to survive?
somehow, she didn't think so
but by damned they'd still try
to fulfill promises made to each other
at least, until they no longer wanted to put in the effort.
and passion
had been replaced with a chemical numbness,
the medical marvel, that she cursed
that helped him keep his sanity,
but locked up his soul,
or at least became a convenient excuse

And hope,
that beautifully stained glass picture window
seen through rose colored glasses,
disappeared today
when it shattered into pieces that may be too small
to glue back together,
a victim of numerous stress fractures which finally gave way
in a whispered phrase of "don't want"
during a fit of an illness that was purely selfish in nature
Which evoked the desire to kick out teeth in response
and left her emotionally spent.

Was it the beginning of the end,
when one ring slips off too easily
and the others feel too tight?
and if so, will they survive this to at least remain
loving friends?
